For Grandma Marsh

My Mom could use some cheering up these days. My Grandma, her Mom, is not doing so well and it has been a very hard year health wise for many around my Mom's family. Mom, I wish more than anything that I could be there to help you and be there to hold your hand. I think about you all day, I pray that you get through these tough times, and I love you so much. I know you'll get a kick out of Jamie in these two clips. He wanted to make Grandma laugh, so I told him that I would show you these:) I hope it brightens your day, even for a moment. Tell Grandma that we love her very much and give Dad a huge hug for us. Hang in there...."this too shall pass." The first one is the first time he has ever read a book outloud. And the second is his rendition of how to say Supercalafra...whatever:)

Picture Day

Today Jalena had 'Picture Day' at school. So I took the opportunity to have 'picture day' here at the studio as well. I knew that her hair wouldn't stay curled for long and maybe she would pull out the awkward smile for the school shot. Last year I got her prints back and because of the digital world being so new, the shots came home with her having red hair. She said she had fun though and that she loved the school bus that she got to take them in...that's all that matters. We had fun at the studio here too and I got to get her real smile and Jaime-Jam jumped in a few of the pictures as well. Thanks to Fancy Pants for the rockin' attire:).
You know I have to get a 'keep it real' shot in the mix!

I wonder what role she is going to take on when she gets into the classroom.....class clown, rebel, dreamer, slacker, brainiac....She is definitely showing potential for all roles in these shots. She can hardly wait to sit at a real desk, but she has to wait one more year. I will spending the year prepping her to fill the role of "the most focused in class"!

She's the best daughter a mom could ask for and the sky is the limit for her. I know she is going to do amazing things in life and I just hope that she is proud of herself every step of the way!

New perspective...

I borrowed Shannon's lens the other day (85 1.2) and I'll tell you what....I had a whole new perspective on things. I was suppose to have a shoot in the morning, but they had to cancel but I was hell bent on testing the lens. So my kids went with me to get my hair cut we had some time to kill. My hairdresser is building a new house next door so went through to kill some time and to test the lens. Her daughter's room was the beautiful pink and the amazing blue was the port-o-potty outside, the rest were in the garage. I just did another shoot with the lens, and I will have pictures of that family soon. Thanks so much for the fresh look on things Shannon and for loaning me your baby.

Oh yeah, Jamie got a new shirt for his B-day because he wouldn't wear anything else besides the Mr. Noisy shirt. Now I can at least talk him into one other shirt now. He loves to be Mr. Silly...this is his interpretation!

Here Fishy Fishy!

Are you dying right now! I did this shoot because I had a collage from a Target ad on my "dream board" that I liked because of all the colors. There was a little boy in the ad that kind of looked like Jamie and he had goggles on with a fish in them. Jamison asked me if that was him in the picture and when I said no he literally asked me, "Mom, can I do dat?" How could I say no to that. So Jake and I went and got supplies and all the kids (neighbors too) helped to create this shoot. Now Tré and Jalena want to do a shoot for them as well. I hope Target ads don't get too crazy on me. This was so fun though and Jamie LOVES looking at the fish. What a great Father's Day project to embark on. Some Dads like to go to Home Depot or Bed Bath and Beyond (if they have time), but mine likes to help me with this kind of stuff!

Forgotten Images

I took these pictures back in February when I was teaching a young photographer how easy it was to get a great photo and I don't recall actually getting one myself. I was looking through them in amazement of the amount of growth that continues to occur monthly with me and my style and the technical side of things. I didn't really see anything that made me proud of this shoot when I glanced through as a whole. Then I ran into these three images.... Although, I don't think they are amazing in the photography department, I can't believe that I almost passed them by forever. When I put her to bed tonight (before I looked through these pics), I told her that "she is an amazing little girl". She gave me the same giggly little look that is in the B&W one below. When I stumbled across the photo that replicated her proud and very shy look, I got goose bumps a little. She looks so young in these shots and this was also when she really began to get a grasp for this whole "posing thing". The middle one of her eyes is straight out of camera and her eyes just caught the sun just right. I'm glad I stumbled upon these and I'm glad to share. k

Big Toe!

I often worry that my girl is going to get Jake's size 16 feet...but, after seeing the toe in this picture, I am almost sure he will get them. Although, you could say this toe runs in my family if you have ever met my sister and seen her in a pair of sandals! Maybe this post will make her stop lurking and respond with a comment to defend herself.
